As young children we have lots of amazing hyaluronic acid (the key component of Dermal Fillers) in our skin which is why children have wonderful chubby cheeks and flawless features. As we age, our naturally occurring hyaluronic acid depletes and as our body’s metabolic rate reduces our natural ability to replace this vial skin component is also diminished. This is why, as we get older we begin to notice more lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, looking tired and to some extent also looking cross or angry. In many people skin loses it’s soft hydrated glow and this can be a cause of distress for many of our patients. We can help improve the look and condition of the skin and to some extent, reverse the signs of ageing brought about by volume loss, environmental stress and ageing skin.
